The World Flying Disc Federation is pleased to present its final call for new grants applications for 2016.  For 2016, out of a total development budget of US$24,000, US$5,000 is budgeted for individual grants to the community, with individual grants limited to no more than US$1,500 each.  WFDF also hopes to expand this year its disc missionary program, providing discs to travelers to areas with limited disc activity.

“In a renewed effort to meet our strategic goals as set out in the most recent strategic plan 2015-2018 and in order to show our commitment to further develop our sport globally, we have set out an expanded Program for 2016, in order to provide funding for worthy ideas brought to the WFDF Sport for All and Development Commission by Member Associations or individuals fostering grass-root development of Flying Disc activities,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch.

“Our aims in 2016 will focus on introducing disc sports into new countries, support role model projects promoting the values as set out in the IOC Olympic Agenda 2020. This includes activities in developing continents, spirit of the game education and youth programs as well as projects for flying disc for the disabled. We also will support establishing stronger national governance structures in developing countries and coordinated by our continental associations.”

In 2015, projects were supported in Cambodia, Venezuela, Kenya, Hungary, India and Nicaragua with a total of US$4,000.

The program is not limited to projects sponsored by WFDF member countries but explicitly calls for initiatives or projects by individuals or groups, particularly in new countries. Applications may be made by member associations or individuals by using the official application form and grants may be used to fund activities for 12-15 months from the date of the award. The deadline for submission of grant applications to [email protected] will be 10 June 2016 with the allocations to be made in late July.  Disc missionary applications may be made at any time.

“It is of great importance that the proposed projects show a path toward sustainability leading to permanent activities in the affected area,” added Gabriele Sani, WFDF Development Director, who is managing the awarding process. “WFDF will also seek the advice of its Continental Associations and other relevant WFDF bodies when awarding the grants.”
