The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Rob McLeod, also known as “Frisbee Rob,” as WFDF Director of Communications and Global Media. This newly created volunteer position will assist the officers and executive staff in the daily media and networking services like issuing media releases, identifying content and managing WFDF’s Facebook and Twitter pages, and improving the existing presence on youtube and other video platforms.

“We are extremely pleased that we were able to find someone with the media and promotion experience that Rob has within the Flying Disc sports community,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “WFDF needs to take better advantage of the evolving opportunities in social media in order to better communicate with all of WFDF’s stakeholders and audience. Rob recently spent time with the WFDF officers and staff in London for the World U23 Ultimate Championships. We had previously discussed this role with Rob and, after the WFDF Congress last weekend and hearing all of the work that the national flying disc federations are doing to grow the sport, Rob decided to enthusiastically accept this role.”

Rob lives in Calgary, Alberta (CAN) and is also a member of WFDF’s Overall Committee and the Sport for All and Development Commission. In addition to being an active player, world record holder, teacher and promoter of disc sports, Rob has an extensive background in online marketing, paid search, corporate communications and video production.  His most recent role was Digital Media Manager for International Fitness Holdings, a health based company in Calgary which manages 14 health club locations. Rob’s role was to oversee the web properties, manage a significant online marketing budget, increase web traffic and user engagement, and research new digital technologies including mobile apps, mobile marketing, digital signage and an online magazine.

“Frisbee is my passion and, to have the ability to grow the sport globally, through the reach and influence that WFDF has, is going to be an exciting opportunity,” said Rob. “The staff and board members of WFDF are so passionate and sincere and you can really tell that they are working for the sport. I am looking forward to educating disc players on the work that WFDF is doing worldwide to grow the sport because I know there’s a lot of people who think WFDF is only about the Olympics when in reality they are so much more.”
