Flying disc: Tips for the opponents after the game.
Ultimate flying disc proves to be one of the most sportsmanlike sports at the 2005 World Games. The field sport is not only exercised without a referee, but after the end of a game both teams get together. After the match Germany vs Canada the Canadian captain Andrew Lugsdin gave tips to their opponents: The Germans played very well. They were often simply unfortunate in the second half. They should continue to play in that shape. Their strong point is gaining offensive space. The rainy weather on Friday suited the flying disc athletes from usually warm Australia well. Its winter now in Australia with similar temperatures as we have here, said David OBrien, coach of the team from Down Under.
USA are leading in flying disc with three wins
After nine preliminary round matches in flying disc the USA are leading undefeated. The Americans crashed Japan 13-4, the 2001 bronze medallists at home in Akita. Even title holders Canada achieved only eight points against their North American neighbours.
July 22 evening: The German TV channel WDR covered flying disc ultimate - with special focus on "the spirit thing." Today, the moderator, Claus Lufen, visited the Germany-Japan game to include clips during the Tour de France on ARD, the first German public station. (Jörg Benner)
