WFDF is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors, upon recommendation by the WFDF Overall Committee led by Tomas Burvall (SWE), have approved new WFDF World Record standards and policies.  This new policy is now in force and can be found here.

“We are extremely delighted to introduce these new World Record standards and policies,” commented WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “There is no impact on our very large number of existing records. However, with increasing interest in the pursuit of new world record attempts, the new guidelines should work far more smoothly and eliminate some of the difficulties around verification and maintenance of standardization.  These records will continue to be administered within WFDF by Dan “Stork” Roddick.”

“Flying disc world records have been officially maintained since the mid-1970s,” Rauch added. “These were first published via Frisbee World Magazine from 1976-1982 and administrated by the International Frisbee Association, before being transferred to WFDF in 1985. Over the course of the last year, Dan “Stork” Roddick, Jack Cooksey, and Tomas Burvall have worked to refine the document, culminating in its approval during the WFDF Overall Committee meeting held at the World Overall Championships in Sweden this past summer.”

There are two classes of world records recognized by WFDF:

•    records in the measurable overall events: accuracy, maximum time aloft (MTA), throw run and catch (TRC), self-caught flight (SCF), and distance, and

•    other “challenge” records.

As the governing body of international disc sports competition, the World Flying Disc Federation monitors and certifies various world records for select disc sports and other specific feats. To see the current list of world records, please click here.
