The WFDF Congress held on August 1st in Vancouver has passed the proposal for new WFDF Bylaws submitted by the Bylaws Task Force.

Unfortunately we did not manage to get the proposal into the hands of our members before July 10th. Our current Bylaws stipulate that Congress materials should be circulated at least 2 months prior to Congress. As the revision of the Bylaws is a very important issue for a corporation, we decided at Congress that it is necessary to give all members a proper chance to object to the process if they were disadvantaged by it. Therefore Congress passed a motion that any regular or organizational member in good standing may file a complaint against the process by September 10th (two months after July 10th) to the WFDF Board. If such a complaint is received it will cause us to organize a revote on the Bylaws. However, the complaint may only concern the process, not any content of the Bylaws. Any revote that might be caused to be taken will only concern the motion to accept the proposal as submitted by the Task Force or reject it.

If you wish to file a complaint concerning the process, please send an e-mail to WFDF president Juha Jalovaara by September 10th (president(at)wfdf(dot)org).

Unless a complaint is filed by that date, the new Bylaws will be in effect on September 11th, 2008.

In conjunction with accepting the new Bylaws WFDF Congress also accepted a new Committee structure, which is attached. As of 1.1.2009 WFDF will have four (4) standing sports committees: Ultimate, Guts, Freestyle, and Overall. The chairpersons of these committees will be Board members and will be elected in our end of the year election. Congress also specified the list of WFDF Disc Sports, which are: Ultimate, Guts, Freestyle, Overall (consisting of Accuracy, Distance, Self-Caught Flight, Discathon, and Double Disc Court). It was decided that due to its relative size DDC does not need a separate committee and will be governed by the Overall committee.

Disc Golf will be considered a WFDF Disc Discipline from now on. There will be no Disc Golf Committee, but Disc Golf will be governed by the Overall committee in so far as it is included as a component event in our WFDF Overall Championship. WFDF will not sanction or award separate Disc Golf titles.
