World Overall Champions Crowned in Ithaca, NY

Competitors from Canada, Germany, Japan, Sweden and the United States were put to the test in Accuracy, Discathon, Disc Golf, Self Caught Flight, Distance, Double Disc Court and Freestyle en route to naming the WFDF World Overall Champions for 2007. The week long event run by Mandy Carreiro, Paul Brenner and Harvey Brandt took place in Ithaca, NY from July 9th through July 14th. more

Ithaca, NY, USA to Host 2007 World Overall Championships

The World Flying Disc Federation has announced Ithaca, NY as the host city for this year's World Overall Championships. The event will take place from July 9-14, 2007 in conjunction with the World Masters and Juniors Overall Tournament. Long time overall players Mandy Carreiro and Paul Brenner are co-directing the event, with competitions scheduled for Disc Golf, Discathon, Self Caught Flight, DDC, Accuracy, Distance and Freestyle. Further information about the competition and the surrounding upstate New York area can be found on the website referenced above.

Galactic MTA Record Set on Space Shuttle Discovery

December 15, 2006 was a historic day for space exploration and for disc players everywhere. One of our own, Christer Fuglesang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christer_Fuglesang) of Sweden is currently aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. Christer was live broadcasted on the national Swedish channel TV4, and as part of that program he also attempted two MTA "throws" in the zero gravity of the shuttle. The first try got away from him, but the second attempt was timed at 20.52 seconds by Flight Engineer Thomas Reiter (ESA) of Germany. more

European Space Agency to host MTA world record attempt in space

On Friday, December 15th, the European Space Agency is the host of a unique sporting event. Supported by the World Flying Disc Federation, the Swedish Frisbee Sport Federation are proud to sanction this unprecedented event. Christer Fuglesang, ESA astronaut on the Space Shuttle Discovery Mission STS-116, will attempt to break the world record in the flying disc sporting discipline MTA, Maximum Time Aloft. The competition will start at seven minutes past seven GMT in the evening of Friday, December 15th, 2006. We believe that this is the first ever sanctioned sports event that takes place in space. more

Sandstrom wins World Overall title

Christian Sandstrom has been crowned WFDF World Overall Champion for the third time. He narrowly took the title over Harvey Brandt and Conrad Damon at the recent World Championships in San Diego. Jennifer Griffin took the Women's title and Conrad Damon the Masters' title. A full list of results is available on the event website. more

World Overalls to be held in San Diego

Following the cancellation of the World Disc Games, the World Overall Championships 2005 have been moved to San Diego and will join with the World Juniors and Masters Championships to be held there at the end of June. more

WFDF has sanctioned Big D in the Desert VI as the 2004 World Distance Championships. This year the event will be held from the 25th to 27th September at the California/Nevada state line in Primm Nevada on Ivanpah Dry Lake. more
