Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers of any level are to be respected for their spirit and enthusiasm.
We all work because we have aloha, love the game and like one another.
For those volunteers who contribute an inordinate amount of time, we have a few perks!

Below is the organizational structure for the tournament listing the positions, who they are filled by, if they are vacant and the perks if offered. Please, identify which division you may want to help with and contact that Staff Director. If you know the "Spirit of the Game" or would like to learn, we encourage you to inquire about any vacancies at e-mail removed

Global Volunteer Perk Scheme:

1 Full Tournament Shift participation in a Volunteer Hat Draw at the end of the day of participation, lunch
2 Full Tournament Shifts one party pass, a shirt and a hat, Hat Draw, lunch
4 Full Tournament Shifts access to all parties, a shirt and a hat, Hat Draw, lunch
4 Shifts, Plus access to all parties, a shirt and a hat, Hat Draw, lunch and entry into drawings to win free Frisbee merchandise
Hours for Youth Outreach in Hawai'i and Public Relations may be accumulated before the tournament. Volunteer-of-the-Day may also be entered into drawings

Volunteers may contribute to one category or multiple categories. Our biggest needs are in Registration, score keeping and the aloha committee.

    Trash
    Water
    General Labor

Fields Volunteer Units and Perks:
    One Fields Shift (6 hours) = One Full Shift
    1 Full Shift = Volunteer Hat Draw, 1 meal during shift (lunch)
    2 Full Shifts = 1 Full Shift Perks, one party pass, shirt and hat
    4 Full Shifts = 2 Full Shift perks and all parties.
    Shifts do not have to be consecutive.

Medical Volunteer Categories:
    Doctors - can volunteer for any shift(s), full days are better than half-days
    Medical Trainers - shifts vary

Medical Volunteer Units and Perks: (follow normal perk scheme, plus)
    Doctors - Week-long Tournament shift = hotel room, rental car
    Medical Trainers - 1 Shift = Possible university credits

PR Shifts: Shift hours vary and may be accumulated before or during the Tournament

PR Volunteer Categories:
    PR Coordinator - coordinates PR effort.
    PR pre-tournament volunteers - hourly commitment.
    PR Tournament Reporters - write stories and messages for Tournament daily newsletter.
    PR Photography Pool Wranglers - manages photo pool and pictures for Tournament daily newsletter.

PR Volunteer Units and Perks:
    PR Coordinator
         Long-term commitment before and during Tournament = 4 Shifts Plus
    PR Pre-Tournament volunteers:
        10 hours = 1 Full Shift*
        20 hours = 2 Full Shifts*
        * earning hat and shirt depends on Tournament Week work.
    PR Reporters 2 game story reporting, plus layout input = 1 Full Shift
    Photography pool Wrangler = one Tournament day = 1 Full Shift
    1 Full Shift = Volunteer Hat Draw, 1 meal during shift
    2 Full Shifts = 1 Full Shift Perks, one party pass, shirt and hat
    4 Full Shifts = 2 Full Shift perks and all parties.

Outreach Shifts: Hours vary and are accumulated before the Tournament

Outreach Volunteer Category:
    Outreach Volunteers - teach local children, teenagers and the public about Ultimate and spirit of the game, encourage attendance at WUCC 2002.

Outreach Volunteer Units and Perks:
    2 Outreach Encounters = 10 hours' volunteer work = 1 Full Shift
    4 Outreach Encounters = 20 hours' volunteer work = 2 Full Shifts
    1 Full Shift = Volunteer Hat Draw
    2 Full Shifts = 1 Full Shift Perks, one party pass, shirt and hat
    4 Full Shifts = 2 Full Shift perks and all parties
