Oahu Hotels

The HUI has selected two local hotel chains to provide the bulk of the rooms for
the 2002 World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC). They were selected
to provide a cross section of affordable lodging options within close geographic
proximity. All the options are located in world famous Waikiki. Waikiki
is the only area of Oahu where a sufficient number and variety of hotels
is available. Waikiki is located approximately 19 miles from the Waipio
Regional Park and Sports Complex, where games will be played. Buses will
be provided by the HUI to get you from the hotel area to the fields.
Renaissances Ilikai Waikiki Hotel
The Ilikai will be the center of WUCC events in Waikiki. There will be a number of advantages to staying at the Ilikai:
- Buses will pick up and drop off at the Ilikai;
- HUI and WUCC personnel will be located at the Ilikai;
- Wednesday trade night will be at the Ilikai;
- Saturday night's final party will be at the Ilikai;
- Can use Marriot Rewards plan.

Some other frequently asked questions regarding where to stay during the tourney:
- Is camping available?
Sorry, but no. Oahu is a relatively urban island and camping places are small and remote. In addition, most places are closed during some week days (if not all) and cannot be reserved more than a month in advance. And at the prices of the hotels it doesn't save you much money once you figure you would need a car etc·
- How about beach front condos near the field, is there anything like that?
The fields are located in a non-touristy area of Oahu so there are no hotels in the area and the beach in the area is not very appealing (old military bases and such), which is why we have selected hotels in Waikiki. You will not find a condo closer to the beach and field than the hotels we have, and if you do you will be paying double the hotel costs (unless you know the person that owns it).
- Which hotel is nicest?
By far and away the Ilikai. Of the Ohana hotels, they are all about the same but the Hobron is in a quieter area.
- Will the bus be going to the outlying Ohana Hotels?
At this time the plan is to have the bus go to the Ilikai only. There is no available bus staging area near the other Ohana hotels and during the times the buses run (early morning and late afternoon) the traffic can be so bad that you can walk there just as quickly anyway. Plus you get to walk on the beach taking in the sun, surf, and sand.
