WFDF Sanctioned Events in 2008

Mention of WFDF World Championships in 2008 might conjure up thoughts of Vancouver, BC, Canada, considering one of WFDF’s largest events, the World Ultimate & Guts Championships, will be there from August 2-9, 2008. However, between April and November, WFDF World Championship medals will also be awarded in six other flying disc disciplines. more

Japan Wins Gold at WFDF Asia-Oceanic Ultimate Championships

The 1st ever WFDF Asia-Oceanic Ultimate Championships were held from December 7-9, 2007 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Japan continued to display their dominance in recent WFDF events winning the tournament 15-11 over Australia. The host team from Chinese Taipei rounded out the top three, taking bronze with a 15-13 win over Philippines. More information will be posted shortly. WFDF Board Election Now Open

The 2007 election for the WFDF Board of Directors is now open. Voting will close on December 19, 2007. If you are an eligible voting member (Regular & Organisational WFDF Members in good standing) and have not received you ballot information, please be in touch with Anne-Marie Carey. Further information about the election can be found in our Election Policy Document and the 2007 Election Announcement. All voting members are strongly encouraged to participate in the election, and good luck goes out to all of the candidates.

Registration for WUGC2008 Set to Open November 30th

In preparation for the World Ultimate & Guts Championships in August 2008, the WFDF Board of Directors has set in place its updated WFDF Membership Requirements for Participation in Team Sport Events. Please review prior to the November 30th opening of registration. Further details for WUGC2008 can be found at the revamped tournament website launched on November 19th.

Bid Deadline Extended for WUCC2010

The bidding deadline to host the 2010 WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships has been extended from November 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008.

Registration Deadlines & Information for WFDF AOUC2007

Kaohsiung City, Taiwan and the Chinese Taipei Flying Disc Assocation are underway with planning for the 1st WFDF Asia-Oceanic regional ultimate championship to be held from December 7-9, 2007. Interested Mixed Division teams should contact Michael Hu for a registration form and roster sheet if you have not already received it by email. The Team Fee of $200 USD is due as a deposit by November 1, 2007. Player Fees ($80 USD/player) are due by November 15, 2007. Women's Guts Teams Encouraged to Register for WFDF WUGC2008

The WFDF Guts Committee is strongly encouraging participation of Women's Guts Teams in the World Ultimate & Guts Championships to be held in Vancouver, BC, August 2-9, 2008. Representation from four different countries is required to hold the division. To help entice less experienced teams to try Guts, the Japanese women's team will be offering technical coaching to other other countries in an effort to futher develop women's Guts. Interested womens teams or individuals, should contact their national governing association to determine the method of team selection and to help help communicate this message to all disc sport players in their country. more
